DCCC: Republicans “must disgorge themselves of every dollar they have taken from Richard Uihlein and vow to never take a dime again”
In response to new reporting from WBEZ Chicago that revealed GOP megadonor Richard Uihlein financed the Tea Party Patriots – one of the 11 groups that organized the insurrectionist mob which attacked the U.S. Capitol and committed an act of domestic terrorism – the DCCC called on House Republican candidates, and organizations dedicated to electing House Republicans to disgorge all money they had received from Richard Uihlein. These organizations include the NRCC, Congressional Leadership Fund, and the Club for Growth.
Between 2018 and 2020 Richard Uihlein donated $65,000 to the NRCC and $25,000 to the Congressional Leadership Fund, the super PAC controlled by Minority Leader McCarthy.
Over the last decade, Richard Uihlein donated more than $39,000,000 to the Club for Growth, which spent in more than 30 House races in the 2020 cycle alone.
And since 2015, Uihlein has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to Republican House candidates.
“Richard Uihlein is a direct sponsor of the QANON mob, but Republicans in Washington are more than happy to take the same cash domestic terrorists are receiving and spend it on their political campaigns,” said DCCC spokesperson Cole Leiter. “Unless Republicans in Washington want to associate with the QANON mob, they must disgorge themselves of every dollar they have taken from Richard Uihlein and vow to never take a dime again.”
