State of the Union: America Is Stronger, No Thanks to Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks

President Biden’s first State of the Union Address highlights the economic progress Hinson and Miller-Meeks tried to block for Iowans

Tonight, President Biden made clear in his first State of the Union Address that historic efforts Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted against, like Democrats’ American Rescue Plan, led to an economic recovery that has uplifted Iowa’s workers, families, and small businesses.

While Hinson, Miller-Meeks, and reckless Republicans built a record of voting against the middle class and opposing the efforts that have helped us move past the crisis phase of COVID, Democrats have remained focused on delivering the results voters want to see: record job growth, higher wages, kids back in schools, and real plans to lower costs.

If Hinson, Miller-Meeks, and Republicans were in charge, Iowans would’ve lost out on these historic accomplishments that rebooted our economy, created jobs, and crushed COVID, and would likely be sicker, poorer, and worse off than they are today as a result.

Even now as Democrats move forward with their latest plans to lower costs that are hurting working Americans, Hinson and Miller-Meeks’ fellow Republicans in Congress are promoting an agenda that threatens to tax seniors’ Social Security benefits and make working families pay hundreds of dollars more in taxes, with no plan to fight inflation.

DCCC Spokesperson Elena Kuhn
“President Biden outlined tonight just why it’s so important for Iowans to vote Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks out of Congress this November. Hinson and Miller-Meeks have consistently stood in the way of Iowans’ economic progress and it’s clear they wouldn’t hesitate to join their party bosses to destroy it all if Republicans take charge.”
