Today it was announced that Republican leadership would help restore Congressman Steve King’s committee assignments after House Republicans stripped him of those assignments because of his racist remarks and praise for white supremacism.
King previously sat on both the Small Business Committee, where Congressman Steve Chabot is the highest-ranking Republican, and the Judiciary Committee, where Chabot is the third-highest ranking Republican.
“Steve King was rightfully stripped of all committee assignments after his disturbing and racist remarks,” said DCCC spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “Now that Republican leadership has decided they no longer care that King is a bigot, Ohioan voters deserve to know if Steve Chabot agrees.”
