Steve Knight Finds Out Why People Think Republicans Aren’t “For Civil Rights”

There’s no such thing as a stupid question, right?

Something has been bothering vulnerable Congressman Steve Knight, but hopefully today we can finally provide him some clarity.

Last year, Knight said, “I don’t know why some groups or some people want to marginalize the Republican Party and say we’re not for Civil Rights.”

Tough one.

Maybe it’s because yesterday, Republican Party standard-bearer and likely nominee Donald Trump refused to denounce David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan.

It also could be because Marco Rubio was introduced yesterday by former Senator George Allen. Allen infamously hurled a racial slur at a Democratic staffer during his failed reelection campaign, kept a noose in his office, and was exposed for praising the confederate flag.

And who can forget that time Republicans proudly defended their Majority Whip despite his association with David Duke and his white supremacist group?

It could even be that Knight himself repeatedly voted to keep the Confederate Battle Flag on display.

“Steve Knight is so out of touch he can’t understand why people think the Republican Party is on the wrong side of civil rights when the likely Presidential nominee refuses to denounce the KKK,” said Barb Solish. “Knight needs to explain to the people of the 25th District why he’s defending a party that won’t condemn these offensive people, organizations and symbols of hate.”
