| Congressman Steven Horsford knows that Nevadans deserve more than temporary solutions to skyrocketing housing costs – and the White House is “listening.” In a letter, Horsford advocated for the administration to support his HOME Act, ready-to-go legislation that would outlaw unreasonable housing prices and ensure that Nevada families – not corporations – come first.
DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“Steven Horsford is a champion for working families. His ready-to-go legislation would lower housing costs, making it easier for Nevadans to own a home, build wealth, and get ahead. Horsford is laser-focused on the issues that matter to Nevadans.”

KLAS: Nevada congressman pushes HOME Act after Trump housing order
- President Trump “signed an executive order to ban large institutional investors from buying single-family homes” late Tuesday night, according to the White House.
- Following the signing, Congressman Steven Horsford responded, saying, “The housing crisis has squeezed American families for far too long.” He added, “In Southern Nevada, record numbers of working families are being priced out of homeownership and pushed out of their own communities.”
- However, Horsford emphasized that the executive order “doesn’t go far enough.”
- “The President’s order is a start, but it falls short of delivering lasting accountability,” Horsford said. He added that the Act would “provide a clear path to make these protections permanent and ensure homebuyers in Nevada and the country are not left behind.”
- Horsford said the HOME Act would create “meaningful oversight of the housing market to prevent manipulation by institutional investors and hold corporate property owners accountable for price gouging and exploitative practices.” While the executive order directs agencies to review investor activity, he noted that it “does not create enforceable standards or long-term safeguards.”
- “Families need more than temporary executive action, and my HOME Act will provide that,” Horsford said. “Nevadans and the American people need Congress to move with comprehensive legislative solutions… I look forward to working with my colleagues to get my HOME Act across the finish line and provide much-needed relief for working families.”
