Stewart Mills III Politicizing Walk for Battered Women

This weekend, we may see multi-millionaire and congressional candidate Stewart Mills III at the “Walk A Mile” event, an annual walk to benefit a local battered women’s shelter, an important and commendable cause.

But Stewart Mills’s attendance would be awkward this year, considering Facebook posts recently revealed that Mills can be sexist, misogynistic, and worst of all – is only begrudgingly attending Walk a Mile:

Disgustingly, Mills even put this Walk in a campaign ad in 2014 – taking credit for work helping battered women while privately joking about domestic violence, oral sex, and even his willingness to help out at all. Mills has also ignored the requests of women in Duluth to explain himself – instead telling a reporter that his comments were only “playful.”

“Stewart Mills III will gladly exploit the issue of domestic violence for his political ads, but his private jokes and commentary reveal he has very little respect for women. Mills has still not apologized to or even directly addressed the group of female constituents in Duluth who reached out to him for an explanation,” said Sacha Haworth of the DCCC. “Stewart Mills III needs to realize running a frat-boy campaign is not a successful strategy in 2016.”
