Surprise, Surprise…The NRCC Lies

QAnon Conspiracies Seep Into Congressional Race, National Republicans Spread Debunked Lies in Latest Television Ad

The National Republican Congressional Committee has some trouble with the truth in a new ad in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. The NRCC, which has been repeatedly slammed for embracing, parroting, and propping up QAnon candidates and their ideologies, is now peddling conspiracies on television.

The NRCC’s latest ad makes false claims about Tom Malinowski’s record while working at Human Rights Watch. These lies have been debunked, but the NRCC never lets facts get in the way. Just weeks after Rep. Tom Malinowski led a bipartisan legislative effort to condemn QAnon, the NRCC is up with an ad falsely trying to link Malinowski to child abuse, one of the key, and most dangerous, tenets of the conspiracy theory—and something he spent decades fighting as a human rights activist and Assistant Secretary of State.

The NRCC claims that while at Human Rights Watch (HRW), Tom Malinowski lobbied against the creation of a national sex offender registry. However, Jennifer Daskal, a HRW lobbyist, has refuted claims and confirmed on the record that Malinowski was not involved in these lobbying efforts saying, in part:

“He was not involved in this issue at all,”

“He was working on foreign policy issues.”

In short, the NRCC’s claim is a lie and they know it’s a lie. There’s no low they won’t stoop to in order to deceive voters.

“Tom Kean Jr. and the national Republicans supporting his campaign are peddling debunked conspiracy theories and outright lies and are now pumping this garbage into homes across the district through dangerous campaign ads,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. “This represents the worst of our politics and this ad should be removed immediately.”
