| The Tampa Bay Times just shifted Congresswoman Kathy Castor down on their vulnerability list — the latest sign that Republicans’ Florida Dummymander is going to backfire in seven days.
The Tampa Bay Times writes in part that “Castor has often overperformed the Democratic baseline and has strong name identification; she’s exceeded expectations in her heavily redistricted seat.”
The new ranking comes on the heels of non-partisan race raters Cook Political Report and Inside Elections shifting their predictions for FL-14 to Toss-Up as Castor continues to defy the odds of Republicans’ dummymander.
And it comes as Republicans are saddled with a deeply flawed recruit: just yesterday, FL-14 voters saw harrowing reporting that Mike Beltran filed a defamation suit against a young woman who had been sex trafficked as a teen, with court records showing that he filed more than two dozen motions, responses, and notices in this case against the victim.
DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“With a deeply corrupt, problematic candidate in Mike Beltran and a gerrymander that’s teetering on collapse, Republicans have dug themselves into a hole in FL-14 they won’t get out of. Floridians know they can trust Kathy Castor to deliver on the issues that matter, and that’s why they’ll send her back to Congress next week.” |
