Tampa Bay Times Recommends Kathy Castor for Florida’s 14th District

“We are confident Castor will keep looking out for her constituents.”

Congresswoman Kathy Castor received a key endorsement from the Tampa Bay Times based on her long record of delivering for the hardworking families of Florida’s 14th Congressional District.

“…Castor gets the recommendation because she is already doing a good job as a strong advocate for the district…we are confident Castor will keep looking out for her constituents. She has proven her effectiveness and has earned another term.” — Tampa Bay Times Chairman and CEO Conan Gallaty and Columnist Graham Brink

The endorsement highlights Castor’s record investing in her community and fighting to lower costs: from securing an $11 million grant to reconstruct Tampa International Airport, to backing the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act to make housing more accessible and affordable, to sponsoring the Ratepayer Protection Act to counteract skyrocketing utility bills.

Tampa Bay Times: Our picks for U.S. House of Representatives | Recommendations

  • Democratic Rep. Kathy Castor has represented the district well for nearly 20 years…Castor gets the recommendation because she is already doing a good job as a strong advocate for the district.
  • She consistently secures federal money for local projects. This term, those included affordable senior housing, Port Tampa Bay channel improvements, flooding upgrades, a high-tech lab at St. Petersburg College and a nearly $11 million grant for runway and taxiway reconstruction at Tampa International Airport.
  • Castor…championed children’s online safety and breast cancer prevention. She also pushed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a wide-ranging housing package that became law in July, and sponsored the Ratepayer Protection Act, which would protect residential and small business electricity customers from paying higher utility bills caused by the massive energy demands of AI data centers. It passed the House…She’s also the ranking member of the Energy Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of Congress’ most powerful.
  • The district now leans more Republican, but we are confident Castor will keep looking out for her constituents. She has proven her effectiveness and has earned another term.
