| On Tax Day, New Jersey families are reeling from the consequences of the unpopular so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” after career politician Tom Kean Jr. prioritized permanent tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy over lowering costs for hardworking families.
REMINDER: Most Americans say the taxes they paid this year are “too high.” The reality is that Kean Jr.’s signature legislative achievement provides more in tax breaks to the top 1% than to the bottom 80% COMBINED, and is expected to raise taxes on the poorest 40% of Americans.
Rather than distance themselves from the least popular law in modern American history, Kean Jr. and House Republicans are embracing it — despite the fact that their constituents are stuck dealing with rising gas prices, out-of-control utility costs, and massive cuts to Medicaid and food assistance programs.
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Tax day is a reminder that career politician Tom Kean Jr. voted to give handouts to billionaires at the expense of New Jersey families. He has completely betrayed his own community.” |
