Tea Party Champion Frank Guinta joined the ranks of the #PartyofTrump by announcing his endorsement of Donald Trump for president earlier today.
“Even Republican national security experts warn that Donald Trump’s reckless views would ‘make America less safe’ – and still Tea Party Champion Frank Guinta thinks he should be president,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “Now that Tea Party Champion Frank Guinta has endorsed Donald Trump, where does his primary opponent, lobbyist Rich Ashooh, stand?”
“Either way, both Guinta and Ashooh should get the talking points ready for defending Trump and his dangerous views that trample on the Constitution, could tank our economy and make America less safe.”
Trump at the top of the ticket is bad news for vulnerable Republicans like Guinta.
Recent internal polling conducted by the DCCC showed that “nearly 60 percent of likely voters in key congressional districts have ‘fairly major’ or ‘very major’ doubts about GOP House candidates connected to the national security views of Republican front-runner Donald Trump.”
Recent House GOP polling indicates that “a plurality of respondents — 48 percent to 40 percent — would be less likely to vote for a Republican congressional candidate or incumbent if Trump were the nominee.”
