Tenney Downplays Seriousness of COVID-19 Pandemic

In Tweeted-Then-Deleted Comments Tenney Spreads Disinformation About Death Toll

She just can’t help herself.

In a now tweeted and deleted statement, Claudia Tenney, who has a long history of spreading misinformation online, suggested—again—that the public health and economic crisis isn’t serious. She even went as far as to reduce the over 212,000 souls who lost their lives to mere partisan talking points, peddling more conspiracy theories. Dr. Anthony Fauci and the press debunked this conspiracy theory just last month.

Notably, Twitter removed a similar Tweet from the President’s feed.

NOTE: This isn’t the first time Claudia Tenney has pedaled disgusting conspiracy theories or minimized the COVID-19 pandemic. Once called a “national embarrassment” by a fellow Republican, press has noted her “history of controversial remarks” and her “divisive rhetoric.”  Even Republican operatives agreed that Tenney’s “bombastic reputation” contributed to her election loss in 2018, with one saying: “every week she says something controversial or stupid. These are self-inflected wounds.” “Disaffected Republicans” ended up being “a major problem for Tenney.”

And in a subsequent liked tweet, Tenney promoted New World Order conspiracy theories about temporary lockdowns, which experts have said in many cases dramatically slowed the spread of the virus.

“Claudia Tenney has gone too far,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. “For her to peddle conspiracy theories and parrot disgusting talking points is dishonorable and beneath the office she seeks. Shame on you, Ms. Tenney.”
