Texas Abortion Law Spotlights Rodney Davis’ Anti-Women’s Health Record

Davis must say whether he supports his party’s extreme, near-total abortion ban in Texas

Today, the draconian Republican abortion ban in Texas (S.B. 8) went into effect, all but eliminating access to safe, legal abortion for patients across the state. Illinoisans deserve to know: Does Rodney Davis stand with his party in pushing an extremist ban to outlaw abortion?

Republicans’ assault on patient rights and health care providers reaches far beyond the borders of Texas. With the Supreme Court set to consider a full reversal of Roe v. Wade this fall, this cruel, out-of-touch law acts as a blueprint for Republican legislatures across the country to intimidate physicians, ban abortions, and strip access to health care for women.

Rodney Davis’ anti-health care record has shown that he cannot be trusted to protect Illinoisans’ reproductive rights. Davis has sided with anti-abortion extremists to sign an amcius brief calling for Roe v. Wade to be overturned, opposing women’s right to make their own health care decisions.

“Ending safe, legal abortion access in Texas is the future Rodney Davis is working so hard for,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Rodney Davis’ extreme opposition to reproductive health care is a slap in the face to Illinois women, which he’ll be forced to answer for at the ballot box in 2022.”
