The Case Against Congressman Brian Mast

“Congressman Brian Mast has become the embodiment of everything that’s wrong with Washington – voting in line with his party in Washington, even when it’s at the expense of his constituents. His record of undermining his constituents’ health care and unabashed partisanship are out of touch in this moderate district. A Navy veteran and attorney, Pam Keith has the experience and a record of fighting for what’s right.” – DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos

Subject: The Case Against Congressman Brian Mast

Congressman Brian Mast’s time in Washington has shown that he’s become just like every other party line politician – willing to betray his constituents with his votes when it serves his own best interests.

This pattern extends across the issue voters care about most this election: health care. Mast supported the GOP tax scam that paved the way for cuts to Social Security and Medicare and he continues to support the lawsuit to repeal the Affordable Care Act, even during a global pandemic.

Brian Mast may think he can get away with these typical Washington games, but Floridians are tired of this partisan leadership and are looking for someone they can trust.

That person is Pam Keith. A Navy veteran who has spent her life working in the service of others, Pam has never backed down from fighting for what’s right. She’s running for Congress to put an end to the petty partisanship that gets in the way of delivering results for Floridians.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

“If Democrats hope to win, they need to choose the right candidate for what is likely to be a political gunfight in November. Keith’s energy, passion and appetite for verbal combat give her a big edge…” [Palm Beach Post Editorial, 7/25/20]

“’People are becoming more comfortable with seeing different kinds of people in Congress. You don’t know what it looks like to have powerful Black women in Congress until you see powerful Black women in Congress,’ said Pam Keith, a Navy veteran and attorney” [Reuters, 7/27/20]

Brian Mast is Wrong for This District

MAST WANTS TO REPEAL THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT…

Despite repeatedly promising his constituents he’d protect people living with pre-existing conditions, in Washington Brian Mast has done the opposite.

Mast has become a reliable vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act, with no replacement plan in place. In fact, Mast has not only voted to essentially institute an Age Tax in this older district, but he’s also continued pursuing this dangerous health care agenda even during a global pandemic that has proven especially severe in Florida.

Pam Keith believes that no American should have to choose between paying rent and paying for life-saving medication or treatment and that no one should have to use a hospital emergency room as a primary care facility. And in Congress she’ll work to lower costs and strengthen these protections, not cut them at her constituents’ expense.

…AND CUT MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY

With his vote to give corporations over a trillion dollars in tax handouts, Congressman Brian Mast paved the way to side with his party once more, cutting Medicare and Social Security.

Not only will Mast’s deficit-busting corporate tax handout put Medicare and Social Security at risk, it simultaneously jeopardizes health care coverage for 13 million Americans and will raise premiums on Florida families by almost $2,000 dollars.

MAST’S PARTISANSHIP IS REMARKABLE IN THIS MODERATE DISTRICT

Mast claims to be a moderate force in Congress, but doesn’t have the record to back it up. He’s a reliable vote for a Washington Republican party that has given billions of taxpayer dollars to corporations and spiked the deficit, and he continues to work to cut the Affordable Care Act.

Pam Keith believes in doing what’s right, not doing what her party tells her. And she’ll bring that independent voice with her to Congress as she fights for Floridians with the moderate voice they’re looking for.

PATH TO VICTORY

This suburban swing district is comprised of voters looking for an independent and authentic voice to represent them in the halls of Congress.

With a large block of senior voters in Florida moving away from Republicans in the wake of President Trump’s mishandling of COVID-19, this district is primed to look for fresh leadership.

Pam Keith has built an energetic campaign powered by people and will serve this district well.
