The Case Against Jeff Hurd

“Coloradans know Adam Frisch has their backs and can deliver the steady, independent leadership they have long deserved in Congress. Adam will work with anyone to get things done for the Western Slope, including championing local energy independence, safeguarding water rights, and lowering costs. While Adam always puts rural Colorado first, Jeff Hurd will do whatever his DC party bosses tell him, even when it hurts Coloradans,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene.

Subject: The Case Against Jeff Hurd

After coming within just 546 votes of winning this seat in 2022, Adam Frisch is back to finish the job. While the GOP field has battled it out in a crowded primary for months, Adam has been visiting communities across every inch of Colorado’s Third Congressional District, driving to all 27 counties in the district and meeting voters where they are.

Colorado voters trust Adam, who has spent his campaign face to face with families discussing the issues most important to them. They know Adam will work with anyone, regardless of party, and stand up to the special interests to get the job done and deliver for the Western Slope.

While Jeff Hurd will be yet another rubber stamp for his DC party bosses, Adam will put rural Colorado first and will be beholden to no one but his constituents. In Congress, Adam will promote local energy production, protect water rights, lower the cost of living, and stand up for the rights of every woman to make their own health care decisions.

After years of political games, embarrassing antics, and no results from Congress, the Western Slope can’t afford another representative who’s only focused on power and partisan politics.

Backed by politicians and special interests who want to ban abortion nationwide, threaten Social Security and Medicare, and hurt farmers by blocking water access, Hurd won’t hesitate to prioritize his party and out-of-state corporate interests over working families.

Hurd Will Enable Efforts To Ban Abortion Nationwide

Jeff Hurd is backed by anti-abortion extremists who want politicians to make personal health care decisions for women. No matter what he says, Hurd’s extreme anti-choice campaign backers make clear he will fall in line with his party bosses to vote for a national abortion ban.

Hurd has taken thousands of dollars from DC politicians who co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act, a national abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the woman’s life. Hurd was even endorsed by Barbara Kirkmeyer, who supports banning abortion nationwide with no exceptions and was rejected by Coloradans for her anti-choice extremism.

Hurd Is Backed By Corporate Interests That Hurt Coloradans

While Adam will always put Coloradans first, Hurd will be beholden to his dark money, corporate interest donors. Hurd is backed by corporate special interests that have pushed an agenda that would hurt Colorado families and farms.

The Koch network, which is bolstering Hurd’s campaign, has consistently blocked access to clean water, which would be detrimental for family farmers and ranchers in Colorado. They want to abolish Social Security and Medicare that more than 68,000 Coloradans rely on. They’ve also advocated against lowering prescription drug costs and pushed for repealing quality, affordable health care, exposing more than 789,000 Coloradans with pre-existing conditions to loss of coverage.

Jeff Hurd’s allegiance to the Koch network’s anti-Colorado agenda makes clear just how unfit his is for this district.

CBS News: Adam Frisch in a post-Boebert race for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District: What’s changed, what’s stayed the same [CBS News, 1/4/2024]

“‘I thought that if a very conservative Democrat could get into the race, a conservative businessman got in the race, they could build a coalition of this pro-normal party conversation that I’ve been talking about for a long time,’ Frisch told CBS Colorado reporter Spencer Wilson.

“That stance as a more moderate politician without an extreme tie to one of the two main political parties is evident in his positioning in water rights, energy, and even wolf reintroduction”

PATH TO VICTORY

Last cycle, Adam Frisch shattered expectations in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District and lost by just 546 votes – despite a tough midterm cycle with no outside help. His strong performance has been a long time coming in the district, which is trending toward Democrats faster than nearly any other on the battlefield: Governor Polis won CO-03 by over 2 points in 2022, improving his margin over 8 points compared to his previous election just four years earlier.

Now, Adam is picking up where he left off and building on his momentum, amassing an impressive war chest and driving across the district to earn voters’ trust and hear their concerns. And this cycle, an abortion rights ballot measure will help drive voter turnout.

Adam has consistently been a top fundraiser across the country, bringing in nearly $14 million so far this cycle. Meanwhile, Jeff Hurd has spent his lackluster fundraising on the primary, taking him into the general election with just over $200,000 cash on hand.

Adam is the only candidate in the race who will be an independent voice for Colorado and have the resources to effectively communicate his message across the district.
