The Case Against JR Majewski

“Throughout her career, Marcy Kaptur has proven time and time again to be a stalwart fighter for families, workers and businesses in Northwest Ohio. A passionate advocate for the Great Lakes region, Marcy has led the creation of a Great Lakes Authority that will bring more jobs and lasting economic growth to the region. Her GOP opponent stands in stark contrast, with a poor record of divisive, extremist rhetoric that would spell failure in Washington,” said DCCC Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney.

RE: The Case Against JR Majewski

The daughter of a Polish-American, working-class Ohio family, Rep. Marcy Kaptur has dedicated her life to fighting for families and working people in Northwest Ohio. As chair of the powerful House Appropriations subcommittee for energy and water, Rep. Kaptur has consistently delivered for Ohio, championing the Midwest in Congress and helping to create jobs and expand economic opportunity while combating the negative impacts of climate change. Rep. Kaptur has led the way for the creation of a Great Lakes Authority, which would greatly improve the region’s ability to promote economic growth, create new jobs, address climate challenges and foster innovation.

A lifelong fighter for workers, Rep. Kaptur has been a steadfast advocate for organized labor and workers’ rights, particularly in the face of those who’ve sought to weaken labor laws. She has also worked to honor our country’s veterans, leading the way on the creation of the World War II Memorial in the nation’s capital after getting the idea from a veteran and constituent in her district.

Rep. Kaptur has been a fighter for working class Ohioans her entire tenure in Congress, unafraid to reach across the aisle and work with Republicans to get things done. She worked across party lines to save the American auto industry and thousands of jobs at Jeep. And just last year, Rep. Kaptur helped pass the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act – which is already putting people to work rebuilding Northwest Ohio’s crumbling infrastructure.

Now more than ever, Northwest Ohioans need a leader who is proven and ready to fight for families, workers, and small businesses, and who has the experience and ability to work across the aisle and be an independent and passionate advocate for Ohio in Congress. Marcy Kaptur has always been that fighter. JR Majewski has proven he will never be.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Marcy Kaptur’s very good Great Lakes idea [Cleveland.com, 3/25/22]

“U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Toledo has been good for the Great Lakes, and great when it comes to protecting Ohioans’ manifold investments in Lake Erie, including its recreation and jobs … Her seniority has allowed her to influence federal dollars, the Biden administration’s intensified anti-Asian-carp prevention efforts and toxic algae reduction projects. And her leadership helps bind together a strong bipartisan coalition within the Ohio delegation … that consistently fights for these programs.

“Kaptur’s proposal is an important step toward an improved regional approach to safeguarding our regional treasure.“

TARTA to receive $13.8M federal pandemic grant [Toledo Blade, 3/4/22]

“The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority has been awarded more than $13.8 million in coronavirus response funding under the American Rescue Plan, U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) announced Friday.

“The $13,833,483 allocation from the U.S. Department of Transportation will help the transit authority offset costs related to staffing, recruitment, training, and health and safety measures related to the pandemic, Ms. Kaptur’s office said in a statement.”

Toledo Public Schools to receive $2.5M in federal funding [WTOL, 3/23/22]

“Toledo Public Schools will soon receive $2.5 million in federal funding, Rep. Marcy Kaptur announced last week. Half of those funds will be going to the Toledo Technology Academy (TTA) …  The money will be used to create an electric vehicle training program … The money comes as part of a larger $14 million in federal funding recently unveiled by Kaptur. She said it’s a no-brainer to make sure TTA benefits because Toledo is heavily connected to the manufacturing industry.”

JR Majewski: Wrong for Northwest Ohio

Ready To Join Other Extremists in Congress
J.R. Majewski attended the January 6th assault on the Capitol and bragged about funding a larger group’s travel to the insurrection. He has made it clear that if he were elected to Congress, he would immediately stand with the GOP’s squad of obstructionist extremists – completely jeopardizing Northwest Ohio’s ability to benefit from their representative in Congress.

Focused on Conspiracies, Not Ohioans
Instead of talking about issues or how he plans to deliver for Northwest Ohioans, Majewski has made a name for himself as a serial conspiracist. He spread outright lies about the 2020 election results, and has given credence to QAnon, which the FBI describes as a far-right group with “anti-government, identity-based and fringe political conspiracy theories.” Majewski has appeared on livestreams with “QAnon influencers” and has posted QAnon content on his social media accounts.

THE PATH TO VICTORY

Marcy Kaptur’s record of delivering for Northwest Ohio is clear, and so is the momentum for her re-election. Rep. Kaptur outraised all of the GOP primary candidates in the first quarter of 2022 and has a cash-on-hand advantage well exceeding that of her opponent.

Rep. Kaptur has played a critical role in bringing historic investments, economic development, and jobs to the Buckeye State while standing firm beside workers, families, and on important issues like combating climate change. Her leadership and accomplishments for the communities she represents set her well apart from her GOP opponent.
