The Case Against Mark Robertson

“Mark Robertson couldn’t be more out of touch with the people of Southern Nevada. He wants to criminalize women who seek abortions, opposes bipartisan infrastructure investments to create jobs in Nevada, and doesn’t think big corporations should have to pay their fare share. Meanwhile, Congresswoman Dina Titus is a proven fighter for Southern Nevada who has delivered landmark investments in Nevada’s infrastructure and critical pandemic relief to keep Nevada small businesses afloat. The contrast couldn’t be clearer: Dina Titus fights tirelessly for Nevadans, while Mark Robertson hangs them out to dry,” said DCCC Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney.

Subject: The Case Against Mark Robertson

The 2022 election in Nevada’s First Congressional District presents a clear choice for Nevada voters. GOP nominee Mark Robertson is completely out of touch with the people of Southern Nevada – opposing infrastructure investments that will create good paying jobs in Nevada, backing bills to criminalize women who seek abortions, and fighting to keep big corporations from paying their fair share of taxes.

Meanwhile, Congresswoman Dina Titus has always fought for Southern Nevada and put the people of Nevada first in Congress. Congresswoman Titus took on members of her own party to deliver critical COVID relief to Nevada small businesses and the gaming industry, helping to ensure they didn’t go under during the pandemic. She was instrumental in the passage of the bipartisan infrastructure law, which will create thousands of good paying jobs in Nevada, rebuild the state’s crumbling roads and bridges, boost America’s supply chain and manufacturing, and tackle rising costs. And she has been at the forefront of the movement to prevent nuclear waste from being dumped at Yucca Mountain.

Congresswoman Dina Titus is a proven fighter with a clear record of results – which is why Nevadans will send her back to Congress this November.

MARK ROBERTSON IS OUT OF TOUCH WITH NEVADANS

Anti-Abortion Extremist

Mark Robertson is an anti-abortion extremist — going against the majority of Nevadans who overwhelmingly support a woman’s right to choose. Robertson wants to overturn Roe v. Wade, paving the way for Republicans to pass a nationwide ban on abortion that could overturn laws already on the books in Nevada. He also applauded Texas’ drastic six-week abortion ban with no exceptions for rape and incest, and called for other states to “follow suit.” If Robertson has it his way, people could collect bounties for reporting doctors or anyone else who help women get abortions.

It’s a record that stands in stark contrast with Congresswoman Dina Titus, who is a fierce advocate for women’s right to abortion and has fought to ensure that right is protected in Nevada and across the country. With the Supreme Court set to overturn Roe v. Wade and pave the way for Republicans to ban abortion nationwide, Nevadans can’t afford to have an anti-abortion extremist like Robertson in office.

Bad for Nevada Families, Workers, and Seniors

While Congresswoman Titus helped lead the passage of a bipartisan infrastructure law, Mark Robertson said he would have voted against bringing 140,000 jobs in Nevada, providing billions for highway and bridge repairs in the state, and investing in water infrastructure at a time when Nevada is facing a water shortage crisis. Despite the bipartisan law’s overwhelming benefits for Nevada workers and the economy, Robertson trashed the landmark investments in Nevada’s infrastructure, calling it “wrong for America.”

Robertson also opposed critical COVID relief for Nevada workers, small businesses, and families that helped keep communities afloat during the pandemic. He boldly came out against the Child Tax Credit, which provided a necessary tax cut for middle class families and gave hard working parents some breathing room amid the pandemic.

Nevadans can’t trust Robertson to protect their hard earned benefits like Medicare and Social Security. Robertson backed a budget amendment that would subject Medicare and Social Security to “potentially deep cuts” while pledging to “develop entitlement reform” that would endanger the benefits that Nevadans have earned.

Meanwhile, Congresswoman Titus played a critical role in securing COVID relief for Nevada small businesses and the gaming industry, helping to ensure they didn’t go under during the pandemic. She has always fought for Nevada families and seniors, leading the charge to safeguard Social Security and Medicare, lower prescription drug prices, and deliver a much needed tax cut for hardworking families through the Child Tax Credit.

Robertson Doesn’t Want Big Corporations to Pay Their Fair Share

Robertson has spent the past two decades advising ultra rich individuals on their wealth management – so it’s no surprise that he is fighting to keep big corporations and the richest one percent of Americans from paying their fair share. Robertson slammed efforts to ensure the ultra rich and large corporations pay taxes like every other American, proving that he’s only looking out for his bottom line, not for Nevadans.

PATH TO VICTORY

Nevada’s First Congressional District became more competitive in redistricting, dropping 17 points of Biden performance this cycle. Cook Political Report currently rates the seat at D+3, and the registration advantage Democrats once held dropped 12 points.

Thankfully, Congresswoman Titus is a proven champion for Southern Nevada with a strong record of results who voters in the district know they can count on. In the face of an extremist candidate like Mark Robertson, Nevadans will once again re-elect Congresswoman Titus this November to continue her work for the people of Nevada.
