The Case Against Monica De La Cruz

“Bobby Pulido isn’t just a South Texas cultural icon — he’s a proven advocate for the families who raised him. Voters know and trust Bobby because he’s been present in this community for decades. The same cannot be said of Monica De La Cruz who has spent years lying to them. Bobby Pulido is the clear choice for South Texas voters who want to send someone to Congress who will actually be a voice for their values,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene.

Subject: The Case Against Monica De La Cruz

Bobby Pulido built his career in South Texas – at quinceañeras, BBQs, and ranch dances. The son of a farmworker, Bobby spent his entire life celebrating the culture of the Rio Grande Valley, listening to the people in his communities, and giving voice to their struggles, issues, and hopes for the future. Beyond his music, Bobby is a small business owner who understands the challenges facing entrepreneurs in South Texas. Now, Bobby is taking his unique ability to connect with people and putting that towards becoming a Congressman that lives and breathes South Texas and fights for his community’s ability to work hard and provide for their families.

Unfortunately, South Texans know that all they have in Monica De La Cruz is a liar. While her constituents struggle to afford daily life, De La Cruz tries to convince them that they shouldn’t trust their own eyes – or their wallets.

As Hispanic voters sour on the Republican agenda that is causing chaos in their communities, wrecking the economy, and leaving behind a trail of broken promises, opportunist Republicans like Monica De La Cruz – who underperform Trump – are going to wake up to the writing on the wall.

South Texans are ready for a straight shooter they actually know, someone they can trust, and someone they know will stand up for them and their way of life. South Texans are ready for Bobby Pulido.

De La Cruz Hugs Her Party in D.C. While Hiding from Her Own Record in South Texas

The Republican extremist agenda is choking South Texas’ economy including the ICE raids that have terrorized the community. Houses that once took three months to build are sitting half completed after 11 months, suppliers are losing millions of dollars and laying off dozens of employees, oil wells are shuttering, and the cost of tariffs are nearing $21 billion.

Texas voters see right through her political charade – the people she claims to represent are already calling her shallow ‘advocacy’ nothing more than “a photo-op.

Monica De La Cruz is to blame. De La Cruz has voted in lock-step with the extremists in her party, crushing working families in South Texas just trying to make ends meet. As Texas farmers and ranchers grappled with reckless tariffs increasing the cost of equipment, Monica abandoned them, staying silent as Argentinian beef flooded the country, endangering domestic supply, threatening the livelihoods of cattle ranchers in Texas, and potentially introducing devastating disease back into the region. Monica De La Cruz even voted FOUR TIMES to support the sweeping tariffs that are destroying Texas’ oil and gas industry.

Texans Suffer and De La Cruz Turns Her Back

As jobs in South Texas disappear and prices rise, De La Cruz isn’t helping Texans make ends meet; instead, she’s made it her mission to make their lives even harder. She voted to endanger food access for over 260,000 families in TX-15 who are trying to feed their families under the crushing weight of De La Cruz’s economy. She also voted to kick over 65,000 of her own constituents off their health insurance.

Bobby Pulido knows small businesses are the heart of the region’s economy, and when politicians like De La Cruz make it harder for workers and families to just get by with their basic needs, everyone suffers the consequences. That’s why Bobby is on the ground in South Texas every day meeting people and highlighting his agenda to invest in South Texas families, while Monica De La Cruz continues to put obstacles in their way and prioritizes tax breaks for billionaires.

LIAR, LIAR: De La Cruz Tries to Pull the Wool Over Voters’ Eyes

De La Cruz knows that her record is disastrous – she’s directly responsible for Texas’ health care crisis, she’s killing jobs in the state, and she’s jacking up the cost of groceries. De La Cruz doesn’t have a record to run on. So instead she defaults to what she knows how to do best: lie. While unemployment claims climb and more Texans are turning to food banks to feed their families, De La Cruz is parading around on social media praising the economy. She shamelessly claims the economy is booming and jobs are plentiful, but the numbers tell a different story– and so do Texans’ ever-tightening wallets. Monica De La Cruz has ruined the economy.

While De La Cruz, her wealthy donors, and her party bosses may be benefitting from the economy and the billionaire tax breaks she helped to secure, hardworking families in South Texas are struggling to make ends meet.

PATH TO VICTORY:
Texas’ 15th Congressional District is a majority-Hispanic district in South Texas. Over the past year, Hispanic and Latino voters made huge swings away from Republicans over the Party’s broken promises to lower costs and protect their communities. These are the same voters who grew up hearing Bobby’s music in their homes at parties, dinners, and family reunions.

Republicans’ gerrymandering scheme also poses unique challenges for Monica De La Cruz. While these voters have known and loved Bobby Pulido for years, more than 6 in 10 voters in this new district are new to Monica De La Cruz. In an environment and with a voter base that is increasingly souring on Republicans, Monica will have to introduce herself to a largely new constituency. Meanwhile, her track record of lies, higher prices, skyrocketing health care costs, and a failing economy follows her wherever she goes.

Bobby Pulido’s high level of name recognition and popularity amongst key constituencies in this new district give him just another leg up in the battle for South Texas.
