The Case Against Sam Peters

“Sam Peters is as extreme as they come. Not only did he push the same dangerous lies that led to the deadly January 6 insurrection, but he wants to roll back a woman’s right to an abortion and make it harder for Nevadans to access affordable health care. Unlike extremist Sam Peters, Congressman Steven Horsford is a fierce advocate for hardworking Nevada families, who will power him to victory once again this November,” said DCCC Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney.

Subject: The Case Against Sam Peters

Whether it’s pushing dangerous lies that led to the deadly January 6 insurrection, wanting to roll back a woman’s right to an abortion, or fighting to end protections for people with pre-existing conditions, Sam Peters has proved that he’s nothing more than a dangerous extremist who is out of step with hardworking Nevadans.

It’s a record that stands in stark contrast to Congressman Steven Horsford, who is focused on creating opportunities for Nevada’s hardworking families. He passed legislation to invest in job training programs so Nevada workers can gain the skills they need to succeed and bring down the cost of prescription drugs by allowing Medicare to negotiate lower prices. During the pandemic, Congressman Horsford delivered relief checks to working families and assistance to over 100,000 Nevada small businesses, while helping thousands of Nevadans stay in their homes. Now, he’s helped pass a bipartisan infrastructure plan that will repair Nevada’s roads, secure America’s supply chain, and boost American manufacturing.

Nevadans will see the clear difference between Peters’ dangerous extremism and Congressman Horsford’s record of delivering jobs and needed COVID relief to southern Nevada.

SAM PETERS IS TOO EXTREME FOR NEVADA

Hall of Fame Hypocrite

Peters criticized relief funds that helped struggling Nevadans and small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic – except when it came to accepting relief money that enriched his own bottom line. While Peters publicly claimed COVID-19 relief funds were “a mortgage on the future of our country,” he didn’t hesitate to rake in $72,000 in relief funds for his own business – hypocritically turning his back on Nevadans when they needed support the most.

His hypocrisy on relief funds stands in stark contrast to Congressman Horsford, who fought tirelessly to deliver relief checks to working families and assistance to over 100,000 Nevada small businesses during the pandemic, while also helping thousands of Nevadans stay in their homes.

Peters is a Threat to Nevadans’ Health, Safety, and Economic Well Being

Peters’ extremist agenda poses a direct threat to Nevadans health, safety, and economic well being. An insurance agent himself, Peters called for the Affordable Care Act to be repealed “in its entirety,” which would gut protections for those with preexisting conditions like asthma, cancer, and diabetes, allow insurance companies to discriminate based on gender, and end the guarantee that young people can stay on their parent’s insurance until age 26. If Peters had it his way, health care access would be at risk for 355,412 Nevadans who gained coverage through the ACA.

Peters is once again running on his record of restricting women’s access to abortion. Peters has pledged that if he gets to Congress, he will introduce legislation to make it harder for women to access safe, legal abortions. With the Supreme Court set to overturn Roe v. Wade, electing Sam Peters would put House Republicans one step closer to achieving their decades-long dream of ripping away women’s freedom to make their own decisions about their bodies.

Meanwhile, Rep. Steven Horsford’s record is clear – he is working to make health insurance more affordable and fighting to prevent insurance companies from dropping people with preexisting conditions. He brought Republicans and Democrats together to pass a bill that would bring down the cost of prescription drugs by allowing Medicare to negotiate lower prices, and he has stood up to defend a woman’s right to abortion while Republicans like Sam Peters work to ban abortion nationwide.

Big Lie Conspiracy Theorist

Following in the footsteps of MAGA Republicans, Peters has refused to accept the results of the 2020 presidential election and said that he would not have voted to certify the election results on January 6. He falsely claimed that there was election fraud in the 2020 election, despite security officials reporting that it was the most secure in American history. It’s the same dangerous lies that fueled the deadly January 6 insurrection, which resulted in the death of 5 people, injured 140 law enforcement officers, and sowed extreme distrust in our nation’s elections. If extremist election deniers like Peters had things their way, Nevadans’ votes could be thrown out just because they don’t like the results.

PATH TO VICTORY

Redistricting more than doubled President Biden’s 2020 margin in Nevada’s Fourth congressional district, from a 4 point margin to an 8.4 point margin. Democrats also have an 11.7-point advantage in terms of party registration in the new NV-04 — 37.8 percent of registered voters are Democrats compared to 26.1 percent Republicans.

Congressman Horsford is a proven champion for hardworking Nevada families. Unlike extremist Sam Peters, Nevadans know that Congressman Horsford will always fight for them, and they will power his re-election once again this November.
