46 days out from Election Day, the NRCC is totally falling apart. In no particular order, a week in review: The DCCC more than doubled the NRCC’s fundraising haul in the month of August – “shellacking the NRCC in fundraising.” Weeks after applauding North Carolina’s Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson as an “articulate spokesman” and “exciting candidate,” NRCC Chief Richard Hudson was caught donating $12,800 to the self-proclaimed “black NAZI.” NRCC recruit Laurie Buckhout was caught deleting pictures celebrating Mark Robinson and donating over $10,000 to Robinson’s gubernatorial campaign. The NRCC touted a new round of ‘top’ recruits on Friday – including two notable anti-Semites. The NRCC was caught propping up a 9/11 conspiracy theorist in an ad for their conspiracy theorist candidate in Texas, and their chosen candidate in New Mexico was caught doing the same. The NRCC’s “Young Guns” program was lambasted by Mother Jones as, “extremists, conspiracy theory-mongers, underfunded aspirants, and oddball contenders.” Sabato’s Crystal Ball shifted five races in favor of Democrats, including CA-45 and WI-03, just weeks after Cook Political Report and Inside Elections shifted six.
