The Republican Agenda Is Deeply Unpopular With the American People

Inflation is up, job growth is anemic, and House Republicans have failed to do a damn thing to fix it

The Trump and House Republican agenda is an utter disaster. According to a new poll from Pew Research, the House Republican-backed Big, Ugly Law is 14 points underwater and Trump’s sweeping tariffs are 23 points underwater.
The epic collapse comes as the economy continues to struggle after Republicans falsely promised to lower the high cost of living on the campaign trail in 2024. As inflation continues to persist, the Labor Department reported Thursday that wholesale prices abruptly soared to a three year high last month.

As CNN’s Harry Enten said this week, noting that Democrats are now winning on confidence to curb inflation, “the bottom line is, the wrath that the voters feel for Donald Trump on inflation is transferring over to House Republicans.”
Even the Wall Street Journal’s Editorial Board agrees, writing today that Republicans are in the political danger zone, “if they keep telling voters everything is fabulous but the evidence at the grocery store or Applebee’s tells them something different.”

“House Republicans are miserably failing to uphold their campaign promise to lower the cost of living – and the American people are noticing. Because they have refused to break from Donald Trump and Elon Musk, they are facing the wrath of voters for cheerleading Trump’s reckless tariff policy and voting to pass the largest transfer of wealth in American history by cutting health care to pay for a billionaire tax break.”
