Last night, a judge ruled that a draconian 158-year-old near-total abortion ban in Arizona must be enforced. The ban mandates two- to five-year prison sentences for doctors and anyone who helps a woman get an abortion.
This cruel effort to ban nearly all abortions in Arizona provides NO exceptions for cases of rape or incest, and is only possible because of the Supreme Court’s decision to end Roe v. Wade.
“Arizona’s near-total abortion ban falls on the shoulders of every Republican who sought to overturn the federal protections of Roe,” said DCCC spokesperson Helen Kalla. “If Republicans gain control of Congress, they will push for a nationwide abortion ban, meaning no woman — in any state — would be protected from Republicans’ war on women and our freedoms.”
