| Nearly a decade in Washington has changed Brian Fitzpatrick – and Bucks and Montgomery County voters are taking notice.
New NYT/INQUIRER/SIENA polling shows Bob Harvie now has a lead over Fitzpatrick, 48% – 46%, despite the fact that the Republican incumbent has spent millions of dollars smearing him with false advertisements.
The ads have backfired – Harvie’s favorability is positive in the poll (+6), while Fitzpatrick remains under water with a negative approval rating (-1).
And as people sour on Fitzpatrick and seek a check on Republican control in Washington, former Fitzpatrick voters and registered Republicans tell The Philadelphia Inquirer, CNN, and CBS News that this time they are voting for Bob Harvie. See for yourself:
Democrat Carolyn Perzan voted for Fitzpatrick in 2022 and 2024 but said she is switching her vote to Harvie this time because she feels the GOP lawmaker has changed since Trump has come back into office, noting Fitzpatrick’s key vote to advance the One Big Beautiful Bill Act
PA-01 voter: “I’m against the party that caused this.”
Registered Republican PA-01 voter: “It’s a clown show in DC right now… I may vote against Republicans having dominance of the Congress, that may be my decision to get the administration in check.”
Former Fitzpatrick PA-01 voter: “Honestly, I’m just thinking about getting Republicans out of office for the most part.”
Two people who said they backed Fitzpatrick in the past are at least considering voting in the other direction this year.
“I was a Republican, pretty Republican. But I think I’m leaning more toward Democrat,” London said.
“I’m leaning toward the Democrats. And I generally don’t lean that way,” Andy Huberegsen of Springtown said. “I think we need something to kind of counterbalance what’s going on in the White House right now.”
