This November, Abortion Rights Are Literally on the California Ballot

Last night, Kansas showed the nation voters will come out to protect abortion rights

In the first statewide vote on abortion access since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, voters in Kansas turned out to protect abortion rights by a 20-point margin. Their message is clear: even in red states, voters are furious at Republicans’ toxic push to ban abortion.

As Politico writes this morning: “if the politics of Roe proved fraught for Republicans in Kansas, it’s going to be even more treacherous for the GOP in swing-ier, more moderate swaths of the country.”

In California, which offers Democrats some of the best pick-up opportunities in the country, voters will have the opportunity to both vote for their representative and enshrine abortion protections into the state’s constitution this November.

Every single vulnerable California Republican incumbent has voted against legislation to protect abortion – instead supporting dangerous abortion restrictions.

Maddy Mundy, DCCC Spokesperson:
“Vulnerable Republicans Michelle Steel, Young Kim, Ken Calvert, Mike Garcia and David Valadao should be terrified by last night’s referendum on abortion rights. With abortion access on the ballot this fall, California voters are motivated to turn out and hold these right-wing Republicans accountable for their relentless attacks on reproductive rights.”
