Today, thanks to Democrats in Congress passing the American Rescue Plan, the parents of nearly 121,000 Arizona children will receive their first monthly Child Tax Credit (CTC) payment to help support their families.
The CTC, which has been expanded and improved through the ARP, will offer working families a lifeline and help secure a stronger future for the nation’s children – despite Schweikert’s best efforts to block it.
The monthly payments, which Schweikert voted against, will start hitting bank accounts on July 15. This benefit will:
- Provide $300 per month per child for children under six years of age;
- Provide $250 per month per children 6 to 17 years of age;
- And help working Americans cover the costs of childcare, prepare for the back-to-school season, and get parents back in the workforce, helping American families make ends meet.
DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw
“By voting against this expanded Child Tax Credit, David Schweikert voted to prevent putting money into the pockets of hardworking parents and lifting thousands of children out of poverty. While Republicans in Congress like David Schweikert tried to keep this critical relief out of the hands of families, Democrats delivered.”
