Thousands of Families in Nebraska Begin Receiving Child Tax Credits, No Thanks to Don Bacon

Bacon Voted Against Monthly Payments Benefiting Nearly 86% of Children in NE-02

Today, families across Nebraska will receive their first monthly Child Tax Credit (CTC) payment — and Rep. Don Bacon tried to block every dollar.

Bacon voted against putting money into the pockets of hard working parents — money that will help them cover the cost of child care, prepare for back-to-school season, get back into the workforce, and simply help make ends meet.

In Bacon’s district alone:

  • 146,700 children will benefit from this tax credit;
  • 40,800 households will benefit an average of $3100 annually;
  • 8,500 children will be lifted out of poverty.

The CTC, which was expanded and improved through the American Rescue Plan, will offer working families a lifeline and help secure a stronger future for the nation’s children – despite Bacon’s best efforts to block it.

DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw

“Don Bacon had the chance to put money into the pockets of hardworking Nebraska parents and help them get back in the workforce, but instead he put partisan politics over Nebraska children and families. While Republicans in Congress like Don Bacon tried to keep this critical relief out of the hands of families, Democrats delivered.”
