Three Questions For Speaker Johnson and Tom Kean Jr. As They Fundraise Together in NJ-07

As vulnerable Republican Tom Kean Jr. begs for cash from his D.C. party boss Speaker Mike Johnson in New Jersey today, here are three questions that the duo should have to answer:

  1. Why did D.C. Republicans light $650K on fire meddling in the Democratic primary in a failed attempt to stop Navy veteran Rebecca Bennett from facing off against Kean Jr.? (Spoiler: It’s because even their polling shows she will win in November.)
  2. Johnson previously said that Kean Jr. should have been more transparent with his constituents during his months-long absence: “If it were me, I would have been more specific about that.” How does Kean Jr. feel that even his party boss knows he failed to be transparent with New Jerseyans? (Kean Jr. was trading stocks while missing votes.)
  3. What do Kean Jr. and Johnson have to say to New Jersey families paying more at the gas pump because of their support for a reckless war in Iran? (New Jersey drivers may not pump their own gas, but they still feel the pain.)

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“D.C. Republicans led by Mike Johnson lit $650K on fire in a failed effort to try and prevent Kean Jr. from facing an incredibly strong opponent because they know he is too weak to win, and Speaker Johnson even criticized Kean Jr. for not being transparent with New Jersey voters during his months-long absence. Now Kean Jr. is debasing himself even further by groveling for his party boss to give him campaign cash.”
