Tonight, vulnerable House Republican John Duarte will be holding a rare town hall in his district, where he’ll once again refuse to tell voters where he actually stands on the issues that matter to them. As Duarte finally faces voters in one of his limited open forums, here are three questions that Duarte needs to answer:
Duarte said he would support the Republican nominee no matter what, but has refused to comment on Donald Trump’s legal troubles for subverting the 2020 election and defended Trump’s role in inciting an insurrection on the nation’s Capital, resulting in fatalities and injuries to hundreds of police officers. Where does he stand now that the former president faces indictment?
Duarte claims to be a fiscal conservative. Is he willing to shut down the government, endangering disaster relief and benefits for veterans and seniors in order to meet the demands of MAGA extremists?
DCCC spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“John Duarte has voted to make it harder for women to access reproductive care, defended Donald Trump as he undermined our democracy, and threatened to shut down the government to further his extremist MAGA agenda. Unfortunately for him, no amount of question dodging tonight will cover up that dangerous and unpopular record.”
