Tomorrow marks the three year anniversary of Derrick Van Orden joining rioters on U.S. Capitol grounds during the deadly January 6th insurrection and potentially even using campaign funds to pay for the trip.
Van Orden is a clear threat to our democracy, spreading conspiracies and baselessly claiming “there was a tremendous amount of voter fraud in [the 2020] election.”
Just days ago, Van Orden cozied up to fellow extremist and election denier Scott Presler, who organized “stop the steal” rallies and was also present on Capitol grounds during the insurrection. Presler even dismissed the deadly insurrection as a “civil rights protest.”
DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“Three years ago, Derrick Van Orden helped spread election conspiracy theories that led to a deadly insurrection and he has continued to be a clear threat to our democracy ever since. His extremism and assault on our free and fair elections will cost him his seat in November.”
