They’ve had his back for years – no wonder they’re supporting his dangerous candidacy
Today, as Donald Trump holds a campaign event in D.C. at the Trump hotel, just a quick reminder that Trump has his House Republican friends Jeff Denham (CA-10) and John Mica (FL-07) to thank for having his back on this project in Congress for years. Both of them helped Trump usher through the hotel project in the Old Post Office building and go way back with Trump, which is presumably part of the reason that both of them have put their party over country and have gone all-in for Trump, despite the fact that he is wholly unfit to be president.
For years, John Mica has heaped praise on Trump, going out of his way to compliment him in 2013 and now in 2016, enthusiastically embracing Trump’s divisive campaign.
Though one wouldn’t think that the Orlando and Central Valley Congressmen wouldn’t have much in common, not only did they team up with Trump on the hotel project, they are both facing an uphill reelection battle thanks to Trump’s toxic candidacy. Both Denham – whose district has over 40 percent Latino voters – and Mica, who is running for reelection in a district that is nearly 30 percent nonwhite, have shown themselves to be wholly out of touch with voters by falling in line behind their presidential nominee.
“We hope that Jeff Denham and John Mica are taking a break today to enjoy the fruits of their hard work helping Donald Trump build this hotel, since his disastrous candidacy should be losing them a lot of sleep over their reelection prospects,” said Barb Solish and Christie Stephenson of the DCCC. “Mica and Denham have had Donald Trump’s back for years now, and 2016 is no different, as both of them are blindly putting their loyalty to Trump over the country by supporting him for president.”
