Today, Tom Barrett is hosting a rally with far-right extremist group Stand Up Michigan. This rally is the latest signal from Barrett that he is unafraid to throw his lot in with the most extreme elements of the MAGA movement.
Previously, Barrett headlined an event with the executive director of Stand Up Michigan, Tammy Clark. Clark has described herself as a “domestic terrorist,” repeatedly echoed the Big Lie, and said that the Declaration of Independence allows for the abolition of the federal government. Stand Up also has ties to the group of men that plotted to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and has openly embraced individuals involved in the fake elector scheme to overturn Michigan’s election results.
Whether pushing petitions to strip voting rights and interfere in schools or standing with MAGA extremists, Stand Up Michigan is a dangerous organization.
