After months of campaign fumbles, bad press, and disappointing fundraising, Tom Barrett’s campaign is on shaky ground – and his chances just got worse as a new primary challenger Jake Hagg entered the race.
Already Hagg is giving Barrett a run for his money, claiming that he’ll be self-funding his campaign because unlike Barrett he doesn’t “want to be beholden to any sort of special interests or people.” Hagg has reportedly given his campaign $400,000 – which would represent more cash on hand than Barrett had at the end of April.
With months to go before the August primary, Barrett’s struggling campaign is looking so weak that he earned himself a challenger to brawl it out for the GOP nomination.

“The MI-07 GOP primary will only get messier as Jake Hagg takes on Tom Barrett and his weak campaign to prove who’s more out of touch with mid-Michigan.”
