Tom Barrett Votes To Keep Raising Health Care Costs for Michiganders

Barrett votes to block ACA tax credits and allow premium costs to keep rising

As health care costs continue to skyrocket thanks to House Republicans letting ACA tax credits expire, Tom Barrett is hellbent on making life even more expensive for Michiganders.

Barrett just voted AGAIN against a bipartisan effort to extend ACA tax credits for three years. His vote sends the clear message that he is a threat to Michiganders’ access to affordable health care.

REMINDER: Barrett said the ACA tax credits “are not real tax credits.” He OPPOSED extending the tax credits and is to blame for the 23,000 people in MI-07 who will pay an average of 61% more for their health insurance premiums without these tax credits.

The DCCC will continue holding Barrett accountable for his long record of attacking affordable health care and breaking their promise to lower costs for Michiganders.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
Today’s vote is another cruel reminder that Tom Barrett doesn’t care about Michiganders struggling to keep up with skyrocketing health care bills and is instead actively working to raise their costs. Voters will remember Barrett’s betrayal at the ballot box when they fire him this November.”
