Tom Barrett’s Campaign Treasurer Calls To Disband Federal Law Enforcement

National Journal: “[Republicans] appeared to become the party of ‘defund the police’ in a matter of hours.”

Tom Barrett’s campaign has embraced an anti-law enforcement stance.

After the news that the FBI searched Donald Trump’s Florida home at Mar-a-Lago, Barrett’s campaign treasurer called to “disband” the FBI in a series of now-deleted tweets:

As National Journal put it: “[Republicans] appeared to become the party of ‘defund the police’ in a matter of hours.”

Instead of letting law enforcement do its job, Republicans immediately leapt to spread baseless conspiracy theories and attack the integrity of the FBI. Despite Barrett’s claim that he would “oppose all efforts to defund our police and prosecutors,” Barrett’s campaign joined the chorus of extremists calling to disband federal law enforcement.

“Tom Barrett is so extreme that his campaign attacked law enforcement the second it served him politically,” said DCCC spokesperson Matt Corridoni. “If Tom Barrett really respected the law, he would let law enforcement do their work instead of allowing his campaign staffers to spread baseless conspiracy theories and attack the integrity of the FBI.”
