Tom Barrett’s Statewide Abortion Ban Echoes Arizona’s Draconian Law

Yesterday’s Arizona Supreme Court decision to reinstate its Civil War-era abortion ban in the state has left anti-abortion extremists across the country scrambling to distance themselves from the ruling. Unfortunately for Tom Barrett, his record proves this latest attack is the same kind of ban that Barrett supports.

Barrett has been working tirelessly on his own initiative to strip away women’s reproductive freedoms.

As a state senator, Barrett has…

• Supported the 1931 Michigan law that would criminalize abortions, subjecting women, nurses and doctors to prosecution with no exceptions for rape or incest.

• Called himself “100% PRO-LIFE – NO EXCEPTIONS” and most recently labeled the state’s constitutional amendment protecting reproductive rights “pretty extreme.”
