| Career politician Tom Kean Jr. had time this weekend to attend an event for his own re-election campaign, but he hasn’t been able to find the time (or courage) to call on Trump to release funding for the Gateway Tunnel.
Because of Kean Jr.’s refusal to stand up to Trump, construction on the project is set to halt this week – putting thousands of jobs at risk.

Last week, POLITICO New Jersey noted that Kean Jr.’s statement on the upcoming Gateway funding deadline “made no specific mention of the man who’s responsible for the funds being held up.”
They reported that Kean Jr.’s refusal to call on Trump to release funding wouldn’t just hurt New Jersey – it will also hurt his own reelection campaign: “Who could this controversy I hereby dub Gatewaygate hurt besides New Jersey commuters, the thousands of workers on the project and the regional economy in general? The political career of U.S. Rep. Tom Kean Jr.”
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Career politician Tom Kean Jr. spent the weekend campaigning for his own reelection when he should have been fighting to restore funding for the Gateway project. It’s Kean Jr.’s job that should be on the chopping block, not thousands of construction workers who don’t know if they’ll get their next paycheck because of a spineless politician who won’t stand up to his party bosses.”
