As Trump hits new low with women, Reed already looking for an out
Is Tom Reed already distancing himself from his endorsement of Donald Trump? Take a look at his recent interview with NPR.
When asked why he was one of the first to walk the Trump plank, Reed said that Trump was taking the country into “uncharted waters” and that “when we get to uncharted waters the collective wisdom of the people is something I’m really sensitive to because I trust that wisdom.”
By the looks of it, Reed is already trying to distance himself from his Trump endorsement and use the voters as a scapegoat. It’s not hard to see why.
Following Trump’s dumpster fire of a week that included advocating for punishments for women undergoing an abortion and nasty spars over the candidates’ spouses, a new Gallup poll released today shows that 7 out of 10 women hold an unfavorable opinion of Trump. According to Gallup, “Men also give Trump net negative rating.”
“As Donald Trump’s popularity hits new lows, especially with women, Congressman Tom Reed is already trying to distance himself from his endorsement of Trump and use the voters as a scapegoat,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “No matter how much he tries, Western New York and Southern Tier voters won’t let Reed run away from the fact that he thinks Donald Trump should be president – who just this week advocated for an abortion ban and ‘some form of punishment’ for women who undergo the procedure if outlawed.”
