TOMORROW: 374,000 Michiganders Will Face Sticker Shock When They Shop for Their Health Care

November 1 marks the start date for ACA Open Enrollment

For six straight weeks, Tom Barrett and Bill Huizenga have refused to address the health care crisis they created.

As millions of Americans begin shopping for health care tomorrow during the start of open enrollment, Michiganders will log on and see higher health care premiums because Barrett and Huizenga would rather be on vacation than working to find a bipartisan solution to their health care crisis.

Because Barrett, Huizenga, and Republicans refuse to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, 374,000 Michiganders will face – on average – more than double the cost next year, forcing many to abandon their health coverage altogether. This is despite the overwhelming majority of Americans who support Congress extending the ACA tax credits.

Yesterday, the DCCC released a new digital ad in MI-07 and MI-04 to hold Barrett and Huizenga accountable for their refusal to take action and failure to lower costs.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Tom Barrett and Bill Huizenga are failing Michiganders. Open enrollment begins tomorrow, but Barrett and Huizenga are on vacation and millions of Americans will face higher costs – or be forced to go without health care – because they want to shut the government down. Barrett and Huizenga will own these price spikes and lose their seats next year because of this cruelty.”

Reminder of what this means for Michiganders:
