TOMORROW: Over 200,000 New Yorkers Will Face Sticker Shock When They Shop for Their Health Care

November 1 marks the start date for ACA Open Enrollment

For six straight weeks, Mike Lawler has refused to address the health care crisis he created.

As millions of Americans begin shopping for health care tomorrow during the start of open enrollment, New Yorkers will log on and see higher health care premiums because Lawler would rather be on vacation than working to find a bipartisan solution to their health care crisis.

Because Lawler and Republicans refuse to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, 206,000 New Yorkers will face – on average – more than double the cost next year, forcing many to abandon their health coverage altogether. This is despite the overwhelming majority of Americans who support Congress extending the ACA tax credits.

Reminder: Lawler has openly called the Affordable Care Act a disaster, called for the full repeal of the ACA tax credits – stating he wants to “phase them out” – and argued “there’s nothing to negotiate here,” when asked if Republicans should return to DC to fix the health care crisis they’ve created and reopen the government.

Yesterday, the DCCC released a new digital ad in NY-17 to hold Lawler accountable for his refusal to take action and failure to lower costs.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Mike Lawler is failing New Yorkers. Open enrollment begins tomorrow, but Lawler is on vacation and millions of Americans will face higher costs – or be forced to go without health care – because he wants to shut the government down. Lawler will lose his seat next year because of this cruelty.”
