Jones leans on anti-choice, anti-maternity leave surrogate amid sexual harassment allegations
As embattled Sheriff Scott Jones desperately tries to duck and roll from misogynist Republican nominee Donald Trump, he’s calling in reinforcements from a surrogate who advocates for unreasonable and out-of-touch anti-women policies.
Former GOP Presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, whose stance on access to reproductive health care, paid maternity leave, and equal pay would set women back decades, will headline a high-dollar fundraiser for Jones tomorrow.
Fiorina has said she “absolutely would vote to overturn Roe V. Wade,” opposes requiring companies to offer paid maternity leave, dismissed legislation that would work to fix the gender pay gap, and denied that Republicans have blocked access to contraception but supported the rights of employers to deny health coverage for contraception.
“Instead of attempting to address his own pattern of disrespect toward women, Scott Jones is calling in Carly Fiorina, whose positions on women’s rights would set the clock back decades,” said the DCCC’s Barb Solish. “Scott Jones can try to run from Donald Trump, but in cozying up to Carly Fiorina, his stance on women’s rights is obvious.”
