Two-Faced Tony flip flops, joins his party in voting against uncovering the truth about January’s fatal attack on the Capitol
Rep. Tony Gonzales (TX-23) was one of a handful of Republicans who voted last month to create an independent commission to investigate the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. Just last week, Gonzales asserted: “January 6th was a terrible day, and it should never happen again — and we have to review that to make sure it never happens again.”
That charade appears to have come to an end.
Today, Tony Gonzales caved, voting to stop a bipartisan commission from uncovering the truth about how the violent attack on our democracy happened. With this vote, Gonzales is cowering to extremists and turning his back on our democracy in an attempt to cover up the truth.
Why did Tony Gonzales flip flop and join his fellow Republicans in trying to cover up the truth?
“Two-Faced Tony has abandoned his charade of pretending he wants to find out the truth of how a violent mob broke into the U.S. Capitol and put the lives of members, staff, Capitol Police, and the Vice President in grave danger,” said DCCC Spokesperson Monica Robinson. “His caucus has clearly found common cause with extremists and insurrectionists. Texans deserve better than a politician like Tony who will flip flop on protecting our democracy when it becomes politically convenient.”
