Today, the DCCC announced that Tony Vargas has been added to its competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, which arms top-tier candidates like Vargas with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to develop strong campaigns.
Vargas is a former public school teacher and current state legislator who was re-elected in 2020 with more than 75 percent of the vote – the largest margin of any incumbent lawmaker in the legislature. As a state senator, Vargas has developed a reputation for civility and reaching across the aisle to get things done for Nebraska workers and small businesses.
Fresh off winning the Democratic primary on Tuesday, Vargas is ready to take on Don Bacon’s out of touch record and deliver for Nebraska workers, families, and small business owners.
DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw
“After years of out of touch representation from Don Bacon, Nebraskans deserve a leader like Tony Vargas who will fight for them – not special interests. Vargas has spent his career helping hardworking families get ahead, and he will bring his brand of common-sense leadership to Congress when he flips Nebraska’s Second Congressional District from red to blue this November.”
