Even before Democrats broke 24-hour fundraising records this week, Derek Tran not only outraised vulnerable California Republican Michelle Steel – one of the GOP’s top fundraising candidates – but did so by over $200,000 in the second quarter of 2024.
In a striking demonstration of grassroots enthusiasm, Tran’s campaign brought in nearly $1.3 million from 9,746 donors, with an impressive 91% of these contributions coming in under $200.
Following months of reports on Michelle Steel’s anti-abortion deceit and hypocrisy, recent polling showed the MAGA millionaire “may face trouble holding onto her seat,” and with Tran – a workers’ rights advocate, U.S. Army veteran, and small business owner – Californians are ready to make that change in 2024.
DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“Michelle Steel is weaker than ever because voters know she’ll always cave to anti-abortion, anti-freedom Republicans at the expense of California families just to stay in power. Voters are ready for Derek’s leadership because they know that in Congress, he will fight tirelessly to address their unique needs and get things done for them.”
