Trump Coy on KKK, Where Does Hardy Stand?

Yesterday, Republican Party standard-bearer and likely nominee Donald Trump refused to denounce David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan. This is the same Trump that retweets white supremacists and calls Mexican immigrants rapists. Despite all of this, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy recently said he’ll “work with Donald Trump,” and NRCC Chairman Greg Walden embarrassingly compared Trump to Ronald Reagan. Speaker Paul D. Ryan has also pledged to support Trump if he is the nominee.

Despite his thoughtful support for Rubio, Congressman Cresent Hardy has also said he would support Trump if he were the Republican nominee. In fact, Hardy said “his tone doesn’t bother me,” and that he’s “speaking the truth.”

“Cresent Hardy should tell voters if he still believes Trump is ‘speaking the truth’ while he refuses to unequivocally denounce the Klu Klux Klan,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “Trump’s tone may not bother Hardy, but this kind of hateful association is unacceptable to the voters of Nevada’s 4th District.”
