Trump Declares Desire To Cut Medicare and Medicaid, Imperils Vulnerable House Republicans

House Republicans cut nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid last year, scheme to do it again under Trump’s orders

In behind-the-scenes remarks from the White House yesterday, Trump declared his desire to cut Medicare and Medicaid to pay for his reckless war.

TRUMP: “It’s not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things. They can do it on a state basis, we can’t do it on a federal. We have to take care of one thing: military protection.”

Trump’s comments confirm what House Republicans have been saying: they intend to slash health care programs in this year’s federal budget.

DCCC Spokesperson Liam Buckley:
“Trump’s behind-the-scenes comments are yet another reminder to the American people that Republicans are slashing health care to pay for bombs and billionaire tax breaks, prioritizing foreign wars over the programs that American families rely on.”
