Trump-Endorsed Bo Hines Faces Failure to Launch in NC-13

Bo Hines faces embarrassing setbacks as he files lackluster Q1 report and his backers forget which seat he’s running for

Trump’s pick in the crowded NC-13 Republican primary can be summarized in three words: Failure to launch.

This week Bo Hines, the 26-year-old former football player who won Trump’s endorsement, reported raising less than $120,000 in Q1, with zero contributions over $50 from people in NC-13. As WRAL reports:

“Over the first three months of this year, district-hopping congressional candidate Bo Hines didn’t get a single campaign donation over $50 from people he’s running to represent, according to the latest campaign finance reports in his race.”

[…]

“This lack of local financial support is unusual in a congressional race, and it may fuel a familiar line of attack against Hines: That the 26-year-old first-time office-seeker, who has former President Donald Trump’s endorsement, is not invested in the district.”

But Bo Hines’ money woes aren’t the only embarrassing campaign setback this week — his big-money backers can’t even remember which seat he’s running for. Club For Growth, who have pledged to spend more than one million dollars on Bo Hines’ behalf, accidentally went up with an ad describing him as a candidate for Senate:

“Bo Hines is running such a lackluster campaign that not even his out-of-state big money backers can remember which office he’s running for,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “It’s no wonder he can’t win any support from actual North Carolinians.”
