| Donald Trump jetted overseas to tout his “affordability agenda” at … *checks note* a billionaire confab in Switzerland. What was promised to be a speech to salvage Republicans’ sinking poll numbers on the economy turned into a rambling pro-tariff stump speech.
At the same time, Deputy Speaker Mike Johnson announced this morning the GOP House has “no intention” of intervening in the real speaker’s (Donald Trump’s) cost-hiking tariffs. The announcement comes as Democrats are poised to force votes to curtail Trump’s tariffs that are causing costs on everyday goods to skyrocket.
This week marks one year of Republican control, and the American people are growing more dissatisfied by the day with their failure to bring down the cost of living for hardworking families, an issue that Republicans ran on in 2024 and have since abandoned.
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Instead of laying out an affordability agenda, Donald Trump just reminded everyone that he and Republicans are responsible for raising costs on hardworking families.”
