Trump Insults Women, Sees Popularity Sink; Reed “Sticks with Trump”

Reed says some of Trump’s reckless rhetoric is “appealing to many people, including himself”

Congressman Tom Reed continues to defend his endorsed candidate, Donald Trump, despite a week of putting down women and plunging popularity.

The Bradford Era reports, “After a tough week on the Republican presidential campaign trail for Donald Trump, U.S. Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning, continues to stand behind the candidate.”

Reed even admitted that he is a fan of Trump’s bombastic remarks, telling the Era that some of Trump’s rhetoric is “appealing to many people, including himself.”

Trump’s popularity has plummeted with women, particularly Republican women, after he argued last week that women should be punished for undergoing an abortion if they were illegal, and getting into nasty spars with Ted Cruz over their spouses.

A Gallup poll last week showed that 7 out of 10 women hold unfavorable views of Donald Trump. And according to a Pew poll, only 38% of Republican women support Trump.

“Donald Trump’s popularity is plunging on all fronts due to his offensive rhetoric of putting down women and dangerous views that make our country less safe, and Congressman Tom Reed still thinks he should be president,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “Not only are Donald Trump’s comments horrific and out-of-touch, but voters should be concerned that their current Congressman, Tom Reed, is such a big fan of Trump’s views that he actually finds his bombastic rhetoric appealing.”
