This morning, former President Trump once again bragged about overturning Roe v. Wade, which paved the way for states to implement draconian abortion and IVF bans. Since the Court’s decision in Dobbs, so-called moderate House Republicans have joined their extreme colleagues to restrict abortion care nationwide.
For example:
A majority of House Republicans have championed the Life at Conception Act – a fervently anti-abortion bill that would ban abortion and outlaw IVF nationwide
Nearly 80% of the Republican Conference has endorsed the Life at Conception Act and other anti-abortion bills that would ban abortion and restrict
Vulnerable House Republicans voted for a poisoned amendment in the Ag-FDA spending bill that would have restricted the sale of mifepristone nationwide
House Republicans passed two anti-abortion bills that spread misinformation and anti-choice rhetoric, doing nothing to help women and families
Trump’s order to overturn Roe v. Wade set the groundwork for states to implement radical abortion bans. As a result, abortion will remain on the ballot in states that encompass eighteen competitive swing districts across the country. Every time abortion has been on the ballot since the fall of Roe, extreme Republicans have lost.
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“Donald Trump is not fooling anyone. Americans won’t forget that extreme House Republicans, including those who pretend to be moderates, are doing everything they can to take away women’s rights and freedoms and pass a nationwide abortion ban.”
Last week, the DCCC launched a five-figure billboard campaign in eight competitive swing districts calling out House Republicans and Republican challengers who have supported legislation that would outlaw IVF nationwide.
