Trump Refuses to Lower Health Care Costs, Steers House Republicans Toward Epic Midterm Collapse

Trump tells reporters he “might” veto extension of ACA tax credits

Just days after suffering a devastating defeat on the House floor where House Democrats successfully outmaneuvered Deputy Speaker Mike Johnson, Donald Trump is all-but ensuring the American people continue to hold Republicans solely responsible for higher health insurance premiums when they cast their ballots in November.

Speaking to reporters last night, Trump indicated he’d be willing to veto an extension of ACA tax credits – just days after a decisive, bipartisan passage on the House floor.

Endangered Republicans, including Trump’s own pollsters, are keenly aware that a failure to extend the ACA tax credits would result in a devastating midterm defeat this year.

18 DCCC-targeted Republicans voted against a clean extension last week – and virtually all House Republicans voted for the largest cut to Medicaid in American history to reward GOP billionaire donors.

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Donald Trump and House Republicans are hellbent on raising costs and ripping away health care on millions of hardworking Americans – which will cost them the majority in November. House Democrats have passed a good-faith extension of ACA tax credits to lower costs and save health care – but Republicans and their real speaker, Donald Trump, are doing everything they can to destroy it.”
